Welcome to the Wayne Art Center! Established in 1930 as the first art center in the Main Line suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, we offer instruction for all ages in the visual arts, crafts, music, culinary arts, and drama. Each year, nearly 5,000 students register for close to 500 classes and workshops, and over 1200 children register for our Summer Art Camp program. We are proud to serve students in the greater Main Line area, including Delaware, Chester and Montgomery counties. Our Exhibitions, lectures, and gallery shop attract over 15,000 visitors each year.
Dedicated to enriching our community through the arts, the Wayne Art Center offers 3 distinct types of programs for our students, members and community:
- Education: classes and workshops in the fine arts, crafts, music, culinary arts, and drama for artists of all ages and ability levels.
- Exhibitions: of the work of professional and emerging artists, as well as the center's own students and faculty.
- Outreach: programs that bring arts enrichment programs to underserved populations within our community, and those with special needs.
In 2003, the Wayne Art Center embarked on a four phase, $4.8 million expansion project which more than doubled the center's square footage, and included renovating and expanding studio spaces, adding a second Exhibition Gallery, and a new gallery shop as well as acoustically designed music studios and expanded administrative space. In 2008, the creation of an attractive and fully equipped culinary arts studio was made possible through the generosity of several local businesses. This facility allows us to provide culinary arts & nutrition programs for adults, children, and teens, as well as cooking demonstrations from local restaurants & chefs. With this space, we are proud to connect the many aspects of our programming together in logical and meaningful ways.
