Wayne Art Center Announces First Annual Pig Roast Fundraiser for the Ceramic Studio

October 17, 2011

On Saturday, October 22nd the Wayne Art Center Ceramic Studio will host its first ever Pig Roast Fundraiser.  Guests will be able to enjoy a full range of events and activities both inside and outside of the studio, including: a Tie-Dye T-shirt workshop, live music, and pottery sale, as well as delicious food, drinks and home-made ice cream.  Adult tickets are $25.00 and include food & (1) drink.  Children under 12, tickets are $15.00.  For only $5.00, purchase a scoop of hand-made ice cream served in a one-of-a-kind ceramic bowl you can take home!

All proceeds from this event will benefit the Ceramic Studio.  The Ceramic Department is a popular and very active part of the Wayne Art Center, offering a range of programs and activities from school field trips, Boy Scout merit badge workshops, and adult classes to engaging summer camp classes and outreach programs for seniors & adults with special needs.  In order to make all of this programming possible, the pottery studio uses many different pieces of equipment, including a pug mill for recycling clay, potter’s wheels, and several electric kilns for firing both bisque ware and glaze ware.  Periodically this equipment must be repaired or replaced.   A large portion of the proceeds from this exciting day of creative (and delicious!) activities will help us to keep our equipment up to date and functioning at peak performance, as well as continue to provide for the needs of our existing programs.  The support of our members and friends makes it possible to expand our outreach to the community.

We would also like to take the opportunity to thank our sponsors:  this event has been made possible by the generous support of Wegmans, Two4Blues, Wybrook Farm (of Honeybrook PA),  The Beer Yard, Wayne Art Supplies, American Marketing, PB and U, Do It Best Hardware of Wayne, the Leonard Nelson Galleries, and Wally's Clay Tools,
