Gingerbread House Decorating Workshops Make TV News!
December 12, 2012 · The Wayne Art Center

Tune into PHL 17 on December 17 to learn how to make your best gingerbread house ever! Pastry chef Maureen Hughes, of Jeffrey Miller Catering, leads a class through the creative process in THE KITCHEN at the Wayne Art Center. Beginning with gingerbread walls, Maureen demonstrates how to assemble your home with royal frosting. Next up: decorations. A lot of them. She used gum drops, non-pareils, M&Ms, marshmallow snowmen and more. Did you know that shredded wheat cereal makes an amazing thatched roof? Turn an upside-down ice cream cone and green icing into a perfect Christmas tree for the front yard, decked out for the season in coconut snow! Maureen, who recently led two sold-out gingerbread house classes at the Wayne Art Center, shares these insider tips and much more to help create a wonderful family holiday tradition. The segment is scheduled to run during the 6:00-8:00 am segment of PHL 17's Eye Opener Philly on Monday, Dec. 17.
