Creating With Smoke & Fire

Together we will explore on of the most versatile ceramic techniques.With the use of slabs and molds, we will update the ancient coil method to build pots of various shapes and sizes. Students will work with fine clay slips and burnishing techniques for a smooth, lustrous, surface.Demonstrations will guide beginning students through the basics while encouraging the more experienced students to refine and expand their work. We will finish up the classes with a traditional smoke firing.


General Pottery / Hand & Wheel

Explore the possibilities of the potter's wheel. Beginning and advanced students welcome. Learn to throw and decorate functional pots. We will also cover handbuilding approaches to clay.


Hand-Building Ceramic Sculpture and Vessels
Instructor: Lindsay Feuer
6:30-9:30 PM
$150

We will cover a variety of hand-building techniques including coil, pinch, slab, and press mold construction to create ceramic sculpture and vessels. Discussions will include the development of personal ideas and concepts to help express your personal vision. You will learn about different finishes, such as glazing, oxides, stains, and the use of non-fired surface treatments. All levels are welcome. Beginners are strongly encouraged.
