Ages 15 & up. This course is for beginners who want to explore various drawing and painting skills and materials, as well as more experienced artists who want to shake things up and/or add to their existing repertoire of techniques. Using still life and self-portraiture, students will learn about form, space, composition, value, and color. Throughout the course we will also look at work by artists, both past and present, in order to understand the range of artistic practices available.

Oriental Bamboo Brush Painting

Students will learn how to handle brushes with ink and color and execute brush strokes correctly and artistically while broadening the possibilities of line expression. Students will work with watercolors and inks on sumi-e paper. For beginning and advanced students, painters, and potters.
