Acquaint (or re-acquaint) yourself with
the pleasure of oil painting. Learn about
the materials and techniques that form the
basis of the medium. We will use still life
(simple and complex) as subject matter.
All levels are welcome.

Plein Air Painting

While exploring our personal interpretations of nature, we will learn how to simplify the complex elements of landscapes to build solid, strong compositions.We will learn about color, composition, design and atmospheric perspective. Paint application, surfaces, materials and mediums will be discussed. Individual and group critiques will be given. We will complete one painting a day. Beginners as well as advanced students welcome!
Oil Painting: Developing Your Personal Aesthetic

For intermediate and advanced students, the focus of this class is the investigation and development of your own "style" or aesthetic. Color sense, paint handling and "pushing" compositional boundaries will be emphasized. Subject matter at your discretion, still life will be available.
Basic Drawing
(6 weeks) July 16 - August 20

This class will focus on the basic skills needed to communicate through drawing. Beginning with a review of the basic foundations we will address areas of difficulty for each student.Using still life, portrait and the figure, we will move into more expressive issues and concentrate on experimentation with techniques and materials in an effort to expand our creative vocabulary. Beginning and intermediate level students welcome.
Watercolor Exploration

Focus will be on techniques unique to this luminous medium.We will explore the importance of value studies, when and how to introduce color into wet washes, creating "lost and found" edges for atmospheric perspective, and the use of limited and full color palettes. Beginning to advanced welcome.
