Garden Clay for Two

Caregivers and 2½-4. We will learn the basics of handbuilding in clay while making treasures for you garden or patio. Some of our projects may be pocket planters, bird houses, garden turtles, herb garden bowls and wind chimes. Projects are designed so there is an adult element and a young artist element. There will be time for a snack and a story each day.

Celebrate Spring: Mixed Media

Ages 4-6. This is a class for young artists to try a variety of media.Using Monet's waterlily paintings as inspiration, we will paint with temperas and learn color mixing. With clay, we will handbuild a pocket planter and toad house for the garden; make a paper collage window box; and create a miniature pond world from sculpy clay. On a nice day we will step outside for some plein air painting. There will be time for a snack and story.

Play with Clay

Ages 6 & up. Children will learn basic techniques of handbuilding with clay. Their natural creative instincts will be encouraged through a variety of clay projects designed to stimulate the imagination.

Step-by-Step 3-D Drawing

Ages 8 & up. Open your world to the magic of 3-D drawing. This is a step by step visual drawing program where students will learn various elements of 3-D design. Time will be spent creating imaginative sceneries using the specific elements of 3-D drawing. Mediums used will be mainly pencil, marker, and watercolor.

To Bead or Not To Bead

Ages 8 & up. Discover the fine art of embellishing with beads! Learn to create handmade bracelets, necklaces, earrings and more. Students will learn traditional methods including crimping, wire wrapping, knotting and weaving. We will also explore creating with ribbon, leather and other stringing mediums. Great gifts for yourself and others.

Drawing & Painting for Teens

Ages 11 & up. Instruction in drawing and painting designed to increase visual awareness of light, shadow and form in order to give the illusion of depth. The first few weeks will be drawing only, with an emphasis on open, tonal (charcoal) drawing. Students are asked to bring in still-life objects to work from.We will also work from reproductions of paintings by artists throughout history, to learn what the artist did to achieve the result, observing composition and technique.

Adult/Teen Figure Drawing

Ages 15 & up. Working from both cast studies and life models, this class will emphasize the rhythm, form and structure of the human figure. Some attention will be given to introductory anatomy. The objective of this class will be the student's heightened awareness and sensitivity toward interpreting human form. Use of various mediums such as charcoal, graphite, etc., is encouraged. Beginners as well as more experienced students are welcome. Model fee included.
