Grounds for Sculpture and Sunday Brunch at "Rats"

Our beautiful Sunday excursion will begin with a delicious three-course champagne
brunch at Rat's Restaurant (Zagat winner 2005-07), located at Grounds for Sculpture in
nearby Trenton. After brunch, we will have ample time to explore this 35-acre sculpture
park and museum.
Grounds for Sculpture has captivated visitors since 1992, who enjoy its tranquil setting
and engaging sculpture.Over 240 contemporary sculptures, from monumental to
smaller scale, can be found on the beautifully landscaped grounds. Indoor exhibitions
of emerging and well-known artists are shown throughout the year in two expansive,
glass-walled buildings that were once exhibit halls for the New Jersey State Fair.

Wharton Esherick Museum

The house that is now the Wharton Esherick Museum is
recognized as one of the most unique buildings in the United
States and was declared a National Historic Landmark by the
U.S. Department of the Interior in 1993.
Woodworker,Wharton Esherick was heralded by the national art
and design community as the "Dean of American Craftsmen,"
an accolade not previously bestowed on an American artist.
He pursued his own vision of high-art craftsmanship,much
of it at his rectangular stone studio and shop along the crest of
Valley Forge Mountain. The buildings evolved over forty years
and Esherick spoke of the structure as a kind of autobiography
executed in wood. Enjoy this astonishing place filled with the
highest form of wood craftsmanship imaginable.
Our tour will be followed by lunch at Nectar Restaurant
in Berwyn featuring the french asian cuisine of star chef
Patrick Feury.
