Children's Education

For children, the Center offers age-appropriate classes in the fine arts, culinary arts, crafts and drama; special workshops; Summer Art Camp; and private music lessons. Programs are available for young people from 2 through 15. Teens 16 and older are invited to enroll in certain adult level classes.

Through a dedicated faculty of art educators and professional artists, the Center provides art instruction that encourages children's self-expression while promoting mastery of a variety of mediums and materials. The Center offers instruction to students of varying abilities in a supportive learning environment.

Summer Camps

Each summer nearly 1200 children enroll in the Wayne Art Center's popular Summer Art Camp Program. Summer Art Camp classes are available from the first week in June to the last week in August, for students' ages 3 to 16 years. Classes are organized into 12 one-week long sessions, and offered in the morning (9:30 AM-12:00 PM), afternoon (12:30-2:30 PM), and late afternoon (2:45-4:45 PM). Students age 5 and older are also invited to enroll in our full day program (9:30 AM-2:30 PM). Partial day students choose from a full range of classes, in drawing & painting, ceramics, general art, printmaking, jewelry, digital photography and special media offered in all age groups. Full day students, indicate 1st & 2nd choice classes in each time-block, or allow our staff to design your child's day based on his or her age group.
