As we navigate this period of social isolation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the necessary and dramatic halt to business as usual presents the challenge to stay in one place and reinvent different ways to live with purpose and stay connected in spite of physical distancing.
Because you are well practiced in making art, you are specially equipped for purpose and productivity. We hope many of you have spent this new found time at home with your paint brushes, pencils, camera, clay, or whatever tool and medium you are drawn to. It is our deep hope at Wayne Art Center that you are finding a certain degree of fulfillment applying your craft at this time. All those words and demonstrations from your instructors are in your memory where they await transfer into your work through practice, practice, practice. Now is a wonderful time to let that wisdom work its way through your fingers. We hope you are busy creating work that will commemorate this historic period in your life. You will always remember those pieces as ones you made when the world went into isolation.
Every work of art holds a story. Write down your observations, thoughts and any other pertinent information that each piece holds. We hope to offer a chance to share those stories when we find ourselves on the other side of quarantine.
In the meantime, starting this May, we will feature Art Apart Wayne Art Center Community Gallery page on Wayne Art Center’s website showcasing community artwork. Please send images of work you have completed in your home studio with title, medium, price and dimensions. Please include a few words that might illuminate the image (75 words or less).
ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE COMPLETED ONLINE
