Summer Art Camp 2020

Week 1: Classicism · June 1-5

1300-1600, Western Europe Influenced by the cultures of ancient Rome and Greece, artists during the Classicism movement began to re-examine the use of art. Classicism took place during the Renaissance, a time of artistic genius when many artists produced extraordinary works of art. Artists often painted portraits of famous people, and created monumental sculpture and dramatic frescoes, known as wall paintings. Linear perspective, balance and proportion, and the use of light and dark were important tools. Michelangelo’s David is a prime example of work represented during this time. Campers will explore this vibrant time in art history. Artists: Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Raphael, Rubens, Botticelli, Donatello, and others.
