In this two-day workshop you will learn how to simplify architectural elements in your paintings. Whether you want to paint a single building in the landscape or a complex cityscape, this is an ideal workshop for you.
We will start by breaking down the images into two to three main values, then expanding the range of values, all while keeping the forms clear and simple. We will then develop color studies for a larger painting, learning how to sight angles and depict details. Perspective issues will be addressed in basic terms.
Main topics covered: selecting photo references, "notan" and 2-3 value studies, sighting angles, edges, handling details.
Medium: oil paint, pastel, watercolor (Instructor works in oil paint). Level: advanced beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Previous painting experience required; basic painting skills will not be covered in this class.
