This workshop intends to show how Qiang generates dynamic landscape painting using reference photos. We know the best way to learn how to paint landscape is through plein air painting practice. However, in many cases, using reference photos to painting can be the only alternative. Qiang will demonstrate his painterly style painting in the studio situation. He will introduce his ideas on how to select photo references to be suitable for painting and using computer tools to enhance the photos. He will go through fundamental skills of drawing by covering perspectives, proportional measuring, and compositional principles. Qiang has generated computer apps to guide students on mixing colors and making the painting process easier. In simply English, Qiang will describe color theory and how to use computers for painting.
