February 2 – February 21, 2003
Ethel Sergeant Clark Smith Gallery

Members of The Art League (formerly the Art League of Delaware County) invite the community to attend a juried exhibition of their works at the Wayne Art Center. The exhibit will open Sunday, February 2, 2003, and continue through Friday, February 21.  The exhibition will be on view in the Ethel Sergeant Clark Smith Gallery at the Center, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. An opening reception on Sunday, February 2, from 3 to 5 p.m, will be open to the public.  Sixty works of art, in mediums including pastel, watercolor, oil, and acrylic, were juried into this year’s exhibition.

This year’s Juror, Ernie Norcia (Wallingford, PA) holds a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art.  He is a member of the Society of Illustrators, NYC, and the American Society of Portrait Artists.  An established portrait painter, Norcia has received commissions from both private and corporate collections.  He currently teaches Figure and Portrait Drawing and Painting classes at Wayne Art Center.

Norcia selected "The Soloist,” a mixed-media piece by Nanette Noone, for First Prize.  Sirish Nidamarthy’s gouache painting, “Lady with a Golden Cup,” was awarded Second Prize.  Third Prize was awarded to “Crater Lake,” an oil painting by Alice Dustin.  Honorable Mentions were given to Shirley Daly, Allen Pease, Pat Holmes, Gail Grams, and Leigh Glenn.
