Summer Art Camp 2021: Week 5

Pablo Picasso; The Three Musicians

Cubism · July 12-16

1907-1914, France Cubism describes a period in art history when everything became a “cube” for the Cubist artists. Cubism was one of the most influential styles of the 20th century. Braque and Picasso started the movement, turning the art world on its head. Influenced by the geometric masks of African tribes, Cubism was characterized by breaking up the subject matter into different "blocks" and painting it from different angles.  Campers will create their own Cubist masterpieces this week. Artists: Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Juan Gris, Alexander Archipenko, Raymond Duchamp, Jacques Lipchitz.
