Juror: Jane Milosch

Wayne Art Center is pleased to welcome Jane Milosch, Founder and Director of the Smithsonian Provenance Research Initiative.

Jane Milosch, an internationally recognized expert in 20th-century and contemporary art, craft, and design, and their intersections with science and new technologies, is a sought-after curator and juror of art exhibitions. She is founder and director of the Smithsonian Provenance Research Initiative at the Smithsonian Institution, overseeing the WWII-Era Provenance Research Project, and advises on international cultural heritage projects, provenance, and training programs. Prior to this, Milosch was Senior Program Officer for Art at the Smithsonian, where she directed pan-Institutional art programs and led new interdisciplinary initiatives and strategic planning efforts at the Smithsonian’s eight art museums.

A graduate of the Getty Leadership Institute for museum professionals, Milosch’s previous appointments include chief curator at the Renwick Gallery, Smithsonian American Art Museum, curator at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art in Iowa and curator in the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art and Design at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Milosch studied ceramics and art history in the US and Germany, where she also worked as a managing editor for Prestel Art books in Munich. She lectures and publishes widely on art and museums and holds an honorary professorship in the School of Culture and Creative Arts, University of Glasgow.
