1880-1914, France and Europe

Paul Seurat used dots of different colors to create pictures called Pointillism. Paul Cezanne liked to design his pictures before he painted them and started using boxy shapes and flat areas in his paintings. Vincent Van Gogh used large swirly brushstrokes and complementary colors. Artists: Paul Cezanne, Paul Gaugin, George Seurat, Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Rousseau.
